Registered Neighborhood Organizations
DANK Dispensary is located in the culturally diverse neighborhood of Park Hill in Northeast Denver. We are Park Hill Proud, having 4 of 5 owners ourselves lived in the neighborhood. We understand the importance of equity in the cannabis industry and strive to open the doors of opportunity for entire workforce, especially minorities. To help us stay connected, we interact with these neighborhood groups in our area:
- Greater Park Hill Community, INC
- Overlook at Park Hill Neighborhood Association
- Park Hill Village Neighborhood Association
- Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation
- Northeast Park Hill Coalition
Plan for Engaging with Neighborhood Organizations
DANK Dispensary engages with the Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. (GPHC) on a regular basis to ensure that our business continues to be a good neighbor to residents and businesses in the Park Hill neighborhood and Northeast Denver.
Company representatives regularly attend community meetings held at the GPHC community space located at the 823 Fairfax St, Denver, CO 80207 where they hold meetings once a month. Hope to see you there!
Our company is happy to support our neighborhood community through active participation in the GPHC neighborhood food pantry. Through a customer-donated food drive, we contribute hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food items every year.
Additionally, our company makes a cash donation to the GPHC during their “Feed the People Thanksgiving Dinner” fundraiser so that those in need in our community are provided with a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner on us.
Plan for Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in Hiring and Employment
DANK seeks to hire culturally diverse, well-rounded individuals for our workforce. This includes hiring practices that place preference in hiring locals within the Park Hill neighborhood and Northeast Denver. We feel this gives a sense of neighborhood pride for employees and customers alike. Within the company, we aim to provide a career path to individuals who excel at their positions by promoting from within the company. Promoting from within allows our diverse company to thrive and prosper as well as keep females and people of color moving into positions of authority.
Plan to Foster Participation by People Harmed by the War on Drugs
Having a plan to foster participation in the regulated marijuana industry by people from communities that have been disproportionately harmed by marijuana prohibition and enforcement is very important to the company. To be sure, the company has never discriminated against anyone convicted of a marijuana offense. Since this has been of great concern to the company since inception, DANK is excited to develop specific measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals to ensure previous wrongs are finally righted.
Our company will continue to lead through example in developing strong operating procedures and company policies that create an sustainable place to work and shop. To us at DANK, sustainability is about reducing our environmental impact and ensuring our business does not negatively impact the health of employees nor customers. Thankfully, there is a globally recognized sustainability rating system already in place called the United States Green Building Council’s LEED Rating System. It measures and assigns value to sustainability characteristics of the built environment with an overall aim to reward building owners who minimize their footprint through real techniques, documentation and innovation. In their words:
Since inception, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint while raising quality of our workplace for our employees and customers. Our most satisfying outcome rests with the smile on the faces of our employees and our customers who rest easy knowing we provided them a safe product, as well as safe building from which to work and shop. To this end, we will utilize the USGBC system as a guide in developing the Sustainability Practices at our facility. While we cannot commit to achieving a LEED Rated Building, we wholeheartedly commit to minimizing our impact and our footprint.
